Ranch Hand – Equine Specialist Location: Montana Salary Range: $32,000 – $38,000 per year, depending on experience Free on-site housing included—enjoy living on a beautiful Montana ranch Position Summary A well-established guest ranch in Montana is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Ranch Hand – Equine Specialist for a live-in position. This is a unique opportunity for someone who loves horses and the outdoors to not only work with animals and guests but also live on a scenic ranch property as part of their compensation. Key Responsibilities • Provide daily care for horses, including feeding, watering, grooming, and turnout • Lead safe, enjoyable trail rides for guests of all skill levels, providing instruction and guidance • Monitor equine health and behavior, reporting any concerns to management • Clean and maintain stalls, paddocks, and tack/equipment • Assist with training, exercising, and handling horses • Support guest equine activities, including educational programs and therapeutic sessions • Maintain accurate records of feed, health, and maintenance • Perform general ranch duties such as fence repair, grounds upkeep, and facility maintenance • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure a safe, positive environment for guests and animals Qualifications • Prior experience working with horses required; experience leading trail rides strongly preferred • Knowledge of equine health, safety, and basic first aid • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions • Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills • High school diploma or equivalent; additional equine or agricultural training a plus Benefits • Competitive salary ($32,000 – $38,000, DOE) • Free, on-site housing—enjoy the benefits of living on a beautiful Montana ranch • Opportunity to work with horses and guests in a supportive, team-oriented environment To Apply Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your equine experience and interest in the position.
