Mushroom Farm Worker

About Hedgehog Hedgehog Foods is a producer of organic specialty mushrooms. At our farm in Beechgrove, Tennessee, we grow rare and delicious mushroom species and distribute them to customers in Tennessee and beyond. Role Description We are seeking a full-time worker to join our Beechgrove Farm team and help on all sides of our operation. This will include shoveling and mixing substrate used for mushroom production, inoculating substrate and setting up mushroom growing rooms, harvesting mushrooms, and packing orders for our growing customer base. This team member will work under the direction of our Farm Manager. Additional details: • Working hours are 7am-3:30pm on weekdays with a 30 minutes lunch break. We are seeking applicants who are able to work a 5hr shift on Sundays • All work will occur on-site at our farm in Beechgrove, TN. Applicants should be able to commute to the farm consistently on weekdays and weekends • Order packing occurs in a temperature-controlled cold environment. Applicants should be willing to work full shifts in cold conditions Qualifications • Physically capable, able to lift 50lb consistently • Hard-working and excited about mushroom farming/agricultural operations • Experience operating forklifts and other heavy machinery is a plus • Experience working with food safety protocols or holding food safety certifications is a plus • Experience interacting with spreadsheets on a basic level is a plus Characteristics - do you describe yourself as: • Interested and/or excited about working with specialty mushrooms • Organized and detail-oriented • Having a sense of urgency to get things done • A proactive and effective communicator • Excited by the idea of working for a fast-growing company Job Type: Full-time Benefits: • Dental insurance • Health insurance Ability to Commute: • Beechgrove, TN 37018 (Required) Work Location: In person Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $17.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Work Location: In person
