Head Organic Farmer

Job Description The Head Farmer position works under the direction of the Owner to achieve the company's objectives in fruit, vegetable, herb production, and farm property maintenance. Carefully creating a plan with the owner, you will execute the farm's plan, manage, lead, and create opportunities for other employees to learn. Focus on maintaining standards and assuring crew safety. • Fieldwork: planting, weeding, mulching, irrigation, spraying, pest/disease management, seed collecting • Leading by example, working hard, and showing your staff how, why, and what we are accomplishing daily. • Greenhouse work: sowing, thinning, potting up, propagation • Harvesting & post-harvest handling: washing, sorting, packing • Consistent, thorough, and timely communication with peers and management
