Garden Center Associate

Purpose: Garden Center Associate members will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting customers in their purchases, restocking plant inventories, maintaining plant health and appearance, and answering customer questions. Responsibilities: • Working directly on sales floor, connecting with customers and supporting fellow staff members in the selection of products to provide horticultural, landscape, and/or gardening solutions • Having or learning a strong knowledge base of our products and services to best help customers • Provide support and answer customer questions, provide information and process orders • Assist with carryout and cart retrieval when needed • Provide accurate, timely and friendly service to both Applewood Customers and potential customers • Maintain a positive attitude when working with customer and coworkers Knowledge/Skills/Experience: • Strong work ethic – willing to learn new things on a daily basis • Must be able to read and write English, perform basic math skills • Positive attitude • Attention to detail and accuracy • Demonstrates ability to follow through on work direction • Ability to perform routine tasks to high standards, within a seasonally changing environment • Work is performed in areas with weather extremes of heat, cold, and wet conditions • Must be able to stand, bend and lift 50lbs • This position requires standing/walking on hard surfaces during the entire shift, working at a fast pace • Demonstrates excellent customer relations and communication skill- required • Flexible schedule to work required shifts – weekends included • Knowledge of plants or experience in this field is a plus, but not required Job Types: Full-time, Temporary Pay: From $15.50 per hour Work Location: In person
