Farm Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations of our dryland grain farm. The Farm Manager will be responsible for managing and executing farm activities independently. Those activities include but are not limited to planting, spraying, equipment maintenance, managing harvest operation, overseeing grain inventory, road work, and general home maintenance in employee housing on site. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the farm's operations are efficient, sustainable, and meet production goals. This position is primarily autonomous but supported by others when needed. Key Responsibilities: Farm Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day farm operations, ensuring efficient use of resources, time, and labor. Work Independently: This position provides an independent work environment. They will be responsible for ensuring work is completed on time and done well. Crop and Field Care: Ensure proper care and management of both growing crop and fallow fields. Oversee planting, harvesting, and disease prevention. Inventory and Equipment Maintenance: Monitor farm inventory, including grain, seed, tools, parts, fertilizer and chemical. Ensure that farm equipment is maintained and repaired as needed. Budgeting and Financial Management: Keep accurate records of farm activities and finances. Work to prevent problems to avoid unnecessary expense. Compliance: Ensure the farm adheres to all local, state, and federal agricultural regulation and reporting, including environmental and safety guidelines. A signed safety contract will be required and the manager will be held to a high safety standard. Sustainability Initiatives: Promote and implement sustainable farming practices, including crop rotation, water conservation, soil health, and waste management. Harvesting and Production Planning: Develop and execute seasonal plans for planting, fallowing ground and rotating commodities across all acres. Communication: Regularly report to management regarding farm progress, challenges, and performance. Being this position is independent and remote, daily conversation with owners is crucial. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Farm Manager or in a similar role in agriculture. Strong knowledge of farm operation and crop management. Experience with farming machinery and equipment. Understanding of agricultural regulations and safety standards. Strong work ethic and ability to work independently. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Good communication skills and the ability to work well alone and with others. This position will work independently under the owners, communicate and direct custom harvesting and collaborate with an occasional foreign worker. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and handle physical labor. Working Conditions: This position may require working long hours during peak seasons. Physical activity, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors, will be required. Occasional travel to suppliers will be necessary. Benefits: Competitive salary. Employee housing on site.
