Job Opportunity: Dairy Farm Worker This is a rewarding role that involves working closely with dairy cattle to ensure their health, well-being and optimal milk production. Main Responsibilities • Prepare, clean and maintain milking equipment and facilities in accordance with high sanitary standards. • Manage free stall housing systems to promote animal comfort and safety. • Group and separate cattle as needed for milking and other farm activities. • Assist with the development of heifers to ensure they are fit for breeding and milk production. • Perform twice-daily milking duties using computerized equipment. • Monitor cows for any signs of illness or stress and take prompt action if necessary. • Clean facilities and care for animals as required to maintain a healthy and safe working environment. • Monitor milk storage facilities to ensure the quality of the milk. • Support research activities on the farm to improve dairy production and animal welfare. • Train student workers in milking procedures and good animal husbandry practices. Working Conditions This role requires frequent heavy physical work, exposure to disagreeable elements and flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays.
