The work we do matters Hiring Agency: Agriculture - Agency 18 Location: Lincoln, NE Hiring Rate: $ Job Posting: JR Agriculture Program Specialist (Open) Applications No Longer Accepted On (If no date is displayed, job is posted as open until closed): Job Description: This position was created to maximize consumer food safety and is administratively responsible for serving as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) liaison for the NE Department of Agriculture (NDA), with emphasis on the livestock commercial feed program. They will serve as primary liaison between the NDA and FDA on feed and feed safety related inspections and questions relating to the Animal Feed Regulatory Program Standards (AFRPS). Manage compliance and interpretation of Nebraska's adaptation of the AFRPS standards to the Nebraska Commercial Feed Program. Co-manage Nebraska's state contracts and federal cooperative agreements with the FDA related to animal feed and food safety including coordination and review of inspections completed under the FDA contract. Coordinate, develop, and conduct outreach and training programs for staff and industry partners. Apply to join our team today Job Duties: Under limited supervision, provide guidance, consultation, and interpretation of Federal and State feed and feed safety regulations to stakeholders, field staff, commercial feed program management team, and administration; Coordinate and review inspections completed under the FDA medicated feed contract; Conduct monthly, quarterly, and yearly reviews of AFRPS program elements; Write and revise Standard Operating Procedures; collaborate with colleagues in partner states regarding implementation of AFRPS. All other duties assigned within the scope of the classification. Requirements / Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred in related area, or commensurate experience. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge: FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, Federal Food, Drug, & Cosmetic Act, Nebraska Commercial Feed Act, Animal Food Regulatory Program Standards Ability to: communicate and work effectively with employees and the public; implement programs pertaining to specific act; read and understand directives and follow oral and written instructions in a professional manner. Meet schedules and deadlines independently. Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation.
